Why I Stepped Away from Medium and Returned Again!

Written on

Chapter 1 My Writing Journey on Medium

I originally joined Medium in August 2021, during the ongoing Covid lockdowns. At that time, my writing experience was limited to casual blogging, occasional tweets, and some diary entries. As I began to write more, I discovered the joy of crafting articles paired with photographs. The more I engaged in this process, the more I learned about writing itself. I picked up numerous helpful tips from seasoned writers regarding style, structure, the use of subheadings, grammar, as well as how to properly cite sources. This knowledge proved invaluable when I self-published three devotional books on Amazon, for which I am immensely grateful to the Medium community.

Section 1.1 Motivation Behind My Writing

My motivation for writing wasn't fueled by the prospect of financial gain, especially since I resided in Cyprus, a country that wasn't part of the Partner Program at that time. Instead, the kind words and feedback from readers inspired me to share my photographs and experiences.

Through my writing, I enriched my understanding of others and their lives. Many people face challenges similar to our own, and it was comforting to read their insights on navigating these trials. As William Nicholson once said, "We read to know we’re not alone."

Subsection 1.1.1 The Need for a Break

As time went on, my workload increased, and I began to feel overwhelmed by the influx of comments and follows. Rather than neglecting the community that I cherished, I decided to take a break, hoping that my fellow writers would understand my absence.

Chapter 2 Rediscovering My Passion

Recently, I recognized just how much I missed the vibrant engagement of Medium. This platform offers a unique perspective, filled with personal insights from real individuals, in contrast to the AI-generated content that dominates much of what we read today.

In the video "I Took A Break From Writing On Medium - YouTube," the creator discusses their own experience of stepping away from writing and the impact it had on their creative process. It serves as a reminder of the importance of community and personal connection in writing.

How wonderful it is to access member-exclusive articles once more and to interact with fellow writers again. An additional perk is that the Partner Program is now available in Cyprus!

Though I may not contribute as frequently, it feels like I have returned home among my writing peers.

The video "I Took a 3-Month Break from YouTube! Why? Surprising EFFECTS of the BREAK!" explores the unexpected changes and effects of taking a break from content creation, echoing my sentiments about stepping away from writing.

I would like to acknowledge the writers who brighten my day with their stories about life, nature, travel, and spirituality: Dennett, Kim Zuch, Barb Dalton, K. Barrett, Anne Bonfert, Julie Ranson, Ccgordon, Sherry Kappel, Mary Gallagher, Katharine Trauger, Quy Ma, Mystical Aries, and Dr. Seema Patel (PhD).

Additionally, I extend my gratitude to my newest followers: John Martin, John Michalak, Liam Sandford, JEFF HILLES, Dan Pfeifer, Evan Reister, Anita Osasona, Author Emily, and J.K. Hammond.
