Mike's Curated Collection: Nostalgia and New Discoveries

Written on

Chapter 1: A Journey Through Nostalgia

Dear enthusiastic readers and fellow Medium enthusiasts! To date, I have curated 73 collections that offer diverse reading options across various themes. My mission is to uncover valuable stories that may have been overlooked, ensuring there’s something for everyone. I encourage you to engage with and share the stories you enjoy, as my aim is to enhance visibility and interaction with these narratives.

In a recent initiative, Aiden produced an engaging YouTube video aimed at our ILLUMINATION-Gaming community, offering helpful insights for both readers and writers.

He also highlighted some of our newly boosted stories, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Not long ago, I penned a piece reflecting on the recent wave of bulk suspensions on Medium. Many accounts were suspended, and if you’re curious about the details, we have a concise article covering the topic.

I came across an impactful testimonial from Dr. Yildiz, which resonated deeply with me, especially following the loss of a supportive editor. His narrative, "Why I Firmly Believe Lanu Pitan Is Not a Fraud But a Committed Reader and Valuable Community Member," offers a balanced perspective on the issue. This story has fostered greater empathy within me for both the victims and the platform. Having experienced an account suspension myself recently, I understand the emotional toll it can take. However, it is crucial for the platform to eliminate those who do not contribute positively.

In a special segment, I shared some boosted stories I had read. While some readers appreciate standout pieces, I’ve made it a point to include them here. Aiden covers the latest stories, while I delve into older ones, providing a nostalgic touch. Additionally, I’ve included a few new selections from my daily reads, as editors sometimes reach out to highlight exceptional pieces. Each story is a gem worth your attention. I made an effort to follow many writers I hadn’t previously encountered, but I learned that the system limits me to following only 150 writers a day, prompting me to try again later.

Aiden's Collections

Check out his latest collection, featuring a link from my friend for anyone interested. He has created 99 collections thus far, consistently discovering hidden gems.

Today, we added new writers, and I will include their links at the end of this message for your convenience. Feel free to explore their profiles and connect with those who resonate with you—collaboration is invaluable here.

Another talented editor, The Sturg, has joined our curation team and has already published two well-crafted collections. I recognize the dedication and time it takes to compile these collections, so please support his efforts by engaging with and sharing his work on social media.

Chapter 2: Updates and Insights

If you’re interested in boosting content, Dr. Yildiz recently addressed common questions about the boost program on Medium, revealing insights that surprised me as both a writer and an editor. I wish I had encountered such information a year ago. It’s no wonder my stories weren’t boosted, leading me to pause my writing, but he instills hope in us.

In February 2024, the ILLUMINATION-Curators compiled our boosted stories, showcasing exceptional narratives from that month.

They also published a new Reader's Club post filled with fantastic stories.

New Interviews

Dr. Mehmet Yildiz recently interviewed the talented writer Genius Turner. His insights are a treasure, and I’m now following him to learn from his experiences.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of featuring Shirley Willett in an interview; I hold her in high regard. I also highlighted one of her stories today about the 6th dimension.

Meet another distinguished writer, David Mokotoff, MD, whose informative and humorous storytelling I greatly admire.

I’ve compiled fascinating interviews with various writers into a single post for your convenience. These conversations are captivating and filled with valuable life lessons.

Aiden's Boost Education

Aiden has curated our boosted stories, creating a collection full of gems.

He introduced boosted stories from Jozsef Kovacs and Joan Naidorf as part of his educational series. I recall he featured a few others previously, likely at the end of his last session.

Chapter 3: Monthly Highlights and Reflections

Our newsletter is now live on Medium and has also been shared on Substack for our subscribers. This includes monthly updates from the ILLUMINATION Editorial Team: February 2024.

Influencing Non-Members

Dr. Mehmet Yildiz penned an open letter directed at non-members, addressing the significant number of readers and writers who do not contribute to the platform's growth. I believe his insights are both valuable and relatable.

To motivate non-members, I documented all the boosted stories I read last month, along with my reflections and common themes found in these remarkable pieces. There’s something for everyone in these well-crafted stories, showcasing a variety of topics and writing styles.

Additionally, I recently wrote two short stories to keep my creative juices flowing: "Her Son Saw Her in the Shower" and "The Sky Was Falling Down."

You can find them in this collection if you missed the previous one.
